FAQ
No. Touchdown works with no account, no sign-up and no Touchdown server. Your logbook stays on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your private iCloud.
Each authority has its own rules: night, PICUS, co-pilot, cross-country… Touchdown computes each one's columns from the same flight. In the form, tap a figure in the preview: "Why this figure?" gives the rule and its source. The primary authority is set in the profile.
Eight: EASA, UK CAA, FAA, ICAO (generic Annex 1 profile), DGCA (India), Transport Canada, CASA (Australia) and GCAA (United Arab Emirates). You choose the ones you follow; each has its own columns, its definition of night and its recent experience.
More › Imports › "Choose Logbook…", then the .logten package (often in Documents). Touchdown reads a copy without ever changing the original, compares its totals with LogTen's before importing, and the whole import can be undone in one step. Importing again never duplicates a flight.
Type one line in quick entry: "LFPB LFMN FHABC 0812 1005" (departure, arrival, registration, block times). On iPhone, you can also start the block timer: it shows in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, and its Off, On and In buttons log the time without opening the app.
Open the flight in the Logbook, then "Get it signed": the signatory signs with a finger, a pencil or the mouse, with their name and licence. The signature is tied to the flight's fingerprint: if the flight changes afterwards, it is no longer marked valid.
More › Print logbook: a PDF in your authority's format (EASA, UK CAA, FAA Jeppesen or ASA, ICAO, DGCA, Transport Canada, CASA, GCAA), with totals brought forward and signatures. More › Flight Résumé prepares an application and checks the logbook before the interview.
Declare your service periods in the profile (More › Profile and Licences). A military flight follows your service's logbook (duties, tenths, counters) and suggests the matching civil function, sourced or "to be checked"; a flight "without civil credit" counts in no civil total.
More › iCloud Sync, on each device (off by default), with the same iCloud account. Your flights go to your private iCloud, never to us. A backup is made before the first sync; in a conflict, the most recent version wins and the other stays in the flight's history.
Touchdown backs up your logbook automatically, at most once a day, and checks every backup with checksums. More › Backups & Export: back up now, keep a copy off the device (Files, any storage), restore a date with a check of flights and hours. With iCloud sync, the logbook also comes back on a new device.
No, unless you ask. The only things that leave are iCloud sync if you turn it on (your private iCloud, never our servers), the weather of an airport or the public photo of an aircraft you open, the maps drawn by Apple Maps, and what you export or send yourself. The details are in the privacy policy.
Yes: Touchdown is free, with no flight limit, on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The complete export of your logbook in PDF, CSV and JSON stays free, forever.
No. Airport data (OurAirports) is provided without warranty and is not for navigation; the Aviation Weather Center (NOAA) weather is not an official briefing. Only official aeronautical publications and your briefing prevail.
