Support

A question, a problem, an idea for Touchdown? A human answers you, in English, French, Spanish or German, within 2 business days. Write to us through the contact form at the bottom of this page.

From the app: More › Help › "Write to Us" prepares an email in your mail app, with diagnostics that contain no personal data, which you see as they are and can remove. Nothing is sent without you.

Getting started

  • On first launch, three screens: Touchdown's promise, what you fly and your authorities (they set up the form), then where you come from: import a LogTen Pro logbook, start an empty logbook, or explore the demo. You can always "Skip"; you can pick everything up again in More.
  • The demo is a sample logbook in memory: nothing is saved, and you leave it in More.
  • Your first flight fits on one line: "LFPB LFMN FHABC 0812 1005" (departure, arrival, registration, block times).

Most frequent questions

  • My hours differ from one authority to another: that is normal, each authority has its own rules (night, PICUS, co-pilot, cross-country…). Tap a column: "Why this figure?" gives the rule and its source.
  • Importing LogTen Pro: More › Imports › "Choose Logbook…", then the .logten package (often in Documents). Touchdown reads a copy, compares the totals before importing, and the whole import can be undone in one step.
  • Printing the logbook: More › Print logbook, in your authority's format; More › Flight Résumé for an application.
  • Getting a flight signed: open the flight in the Logbook, then "Get it signed".

All the answers are in the FAQ.

iCloud sync

  • Turn it on on each device in More › iCloud Sync (off by default), with the same iCloud account on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
  • Before the first sync, Touchdown makes a backup, then merges both logbooks without duplicates.
  • In a conflict, the most recent version of a flight wins and the other stays in the flight's history.
  • Nothing goes through? Check that iCloud is on for the device and has free space; the iCloud Sync screen shows the state of the last sync and lets you export diagnostics.

Backups and restore

  • Touchdown backs up your logbook automatically, at most once a day, and checks every backup with checksums.
  • More › Backups & Export: back up now, keep a copy off the device (Files, any storage), restore a date with a check of flights and hours.
  • Before changing or resetting a device, keep a copy of the backup off the device, or turn on iCloud sync.

Weather and airport sheet

  • An airport sheet works offline; only the METAR and TAF need a connection, and they always show the time of the observation.
  • Weather comes from the Aviation Weather Center (NOAA): it is not an official briefing. Airport data is not for navigation.

Reporting a problem

Tell us what you were doing, what you expected and what happened. Attach the diagnostics offered by "Write to Us": they contain no flight, no name and no licence. Never send your complete logbook unless we ask; a screenshot is usually enough.
